New Furnace Installation and Ductwork

Have you already bought your new furnace? Are you still in the stages of reviewing and comparing new furnaces? When buying a new furnace for your home, you will have to consider such things as:

  • Size and square footage of your home
  • Layout of rooms
  • Number of floors
  • Insulation level in your home
  • The climate in your region
  • Type of heating fuel available in your area

All of these factors will influence the size and BTU of your new furnace.

Please note that the correct sizing of a furnace is best assessed by a professional during an in-home estimate, therefore if you have any doubts about new furnace installation – give us a call.

High-Efficiency Furnace Installation

From many options available on the Canadian market, every homeowner tries to choose the most high-efficiency furnace installation option.

Natural Gas Furnace Installation

Natural gas furnace installation is the most environmental-friendly option available on the heating market at the time. Besides, if you decide to go with a natural gas line installation, you can use it for the other purposes as well – tap it to your natural gas stove, BBQ or a fireplace! Using a general fuel source is a great way to reduce overall energy bill cost. Let us connect you with a gas line in no time!

Electric Furnace Installation

Electric furnace installation is another popular heating option available on the Canadian market. These furnaces are highly-efficient as, unlike, gas or oil furnaces they transform 100% of their fuel into heat. Unfortunately, electricity in Toronto is quite expensive as a fuel source, that is why electric furnace installation might result in higher heating bills. However, it tends to be the heat source of choice in areas where electricity is the only option. We can help you install your new furnace and electrical connections from the furnace junction box to the disconnect switch.

If you have trouble choosing the most appropriate furnace for your home, give DeMarco Mechanical Inc. a call. We will be happy to provide you with a free consultation and free furnace installation quote.

Furnace Installation Cost

For any furnace to work at its maximum capacity, a proper furnace installation is a key. A proper furnace installation should be performed by trained professionals, who are licensed and insured.
New furnace installation cost depends greatly on the type of furnace you will choose.

Natural Gas Furnace Installation Cost

Natural gas is know to be the most cost-effective heating option, however, a gas furnace installation cost is considered to be, can be more expensive, especially if your home was not previously equipped with the natural gas line. Also, natural gas installation is not recommended for old homes without a ductwork. Air ducts have to be spacious in order to move heated air from the furnace to the rooms. That is why natural gas installation often comes along with retrofitting of a duct system, that can be quite costly.

However, despite some obstacles, you should see your natural gas installation cost as an investment in the future, that will help you to reduce energy bills and keep the environment safe.

Electrical Furnace Installation Cost

As already mentioned, using an electric furnace may result in higher energy bills, however, an electrical furnace installation cost is quite low. Beside low installation cost, an initial cost of the electrical furnace is low, which makes it an attractive solution for homeowners. Nevertheless, keep in mind that besides basic electrical installation cost you may be charged extra (if applicable) for additional parts like a thermostat or new electrical breakers.

Furnace Problems – Answered

Why does my furnace whistle?

Your furnace is likely whistling because air is escaping through a small opening where it should not be. This can happen anywhere in your furnace system; loose register covers, loose duct connections, and newer, stronger fans are common causes. Remember to be careful when working with your furnace (especially your fan), we recommend you rely on a professional to fix your problem.

Why does my furnace leak water?

Furnaces may leak water for a number of reasons, common causes include: damaged or missing insulation, faulty or missing pumps, clogged or frozen drains and pans, dirty or faulty coils, and damaged or badly-fitted pipes. If you cannot identify the problem you should contact a technician for a professional opinion.

Why is my furnace filter black?

A black furnace filter is a very bad sign and you should immediately check for carbon monoxide in your home because the gas is colorless, odourless, and deadly. This is not, however, the only reason for a black filter. Other common causes include dirt, debris, or soot in the air, mold in your ducts, or improper combustion in your furnace.

Why is my furnace loud?

Many problems can cause a loud furnace. For example, whistling indicates escaping air, a banging sound can indicate a weakness in the ducts or a burst of flame on ignition, and rattling indicates unsecured parts. There are many answers and you should rely on a technician’s opinion if you cannot easily identify the problem yourself.

Why does my furnace beep?

Your furnace beeps to try and tell you something. This can be part of normal operations, or to indicate a problem, and the message depends on the make and model of your machine. Check your owner’s manual or contact a technician (with your machine serial number on hand) to find out what your furnace beeps mean.
